# Uninstall

Remove Kuvo, its VM and everything it added to your Mac.

Kuvo keeps everything in a few known places, so removing it completely takes a minute.

## Remove the app and its data

1. Quit Kuvo from its menu bar icon or with <kbd>⌘</kbd> <kbd>Q</kbd>. This shuts down the VM and stops your containers.
2. Delete the app and its files:

   ```sh
   rm -rf /Applications/Kuvo.app
   rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/Kuvo
   rm -rf ~/.kuvo
   rm -rf ~/Library/Caches/run.kuvo.app* ~/Library/HTTPStorages/run.kuvo.app
   defaults delete run.kuvo.app
   ```

The cache folders hold downloaded updates and Kuvo's network cache.

The `Application Support/Kuvo` folder holds the VM's disk, so this also **deletes every image, container and volume** you had in Kuvo. Copy out anything you want to keep first, for example with `docker cp` or `kuvo cp`.

## Remove the kuvo command

Kuvo may have put a `kuvo` symlink in a folder on your PATH. Remove it if it's there:

```sh
rm -f /opt/homebrew/bin/kuvo /usr/local/bin/kuvo
```

If Kuvo used `~/.kuvo/bin` instead, it added two lines to `~/.zprofile` (and `~/.bash_profile`, if you have one). Open the file and delete them:

```sh
# Added by Kuvo: the kuvo command-line tool
export PATH="$HOME/.kuvo/bin:$PATH"
```

## Remove your Docker settings

If you added `eval "$(kuvo env)"` to your shell profile, remove that line. If you created a Docker context, remove it too:

```sh
docker context use default
docker context rm kuvo
```
