# Installation

Install Kuvo Code, what happens on first launch, updates, and building from source.

## Install

[Download KuvoCode.dmg](https://github.com/serhatandic/kuvo-code/releases/latest/download/KuvoCode.dmg), open it, and drag **Kuvo Code** to **Applications**. It needs a Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 26 or later.

## First launch

Kuvo Code doesn't include the agent engine. The first time you open it, it downloads the official opencode engine, checks that it's the genuine, signed file, and starts it. If something goes wrong, the window says why and offers **Try Again**; see [Troubleshooting](/code/docs/troubleshooting/).

## Updates

Kuvo Code checks for a new version once a day and shows what's new before installing it. To check now, choose **Kuvo Code › Check for Updates…**; to stop the daily check, turn it off in **Settings › General**. Every release is signed and notarized by Apple.

## Build from source

You need Xcode 27 or later.

```sh
git clone https://github.com/serhatandic/kuvo-code.git
cd kuvo-code
open KuvoCode.xcodeproj
```

Run the **KuvoCode** scheme. [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/serhatandic/kuvo-code/blob/main/CONTRIBUTING.md) covers the rest.
